The text deals with the production of the ethnobiographic video Pascual Toro, flautero (flute player). I refer, first, to the theoretical and methodological proposal of the Argentine filmmaker and anthropologist Jorge Prelorán (1933-2009), who inspired the work. In a second moment, I describe the characteristics of the repertoire and the genre performed by the protagonist of the film in the arete guasu ritual to explain the reasons that guided the organization of the editing project. In turn, I discuss the value of individuality in the scope of arete guasu flute music, arguing that the ethnobiographic method is a fruitful way to understand the connections that sustain the skills to be a good flute player in this universe.||O texto trata da realização do vídeo etnobiográfico Pascual Toro, flautero. Refiro, em primeiro lugar, a proposta teórico-metodológica do cineasta e antropólogo argentino Jorge Prelorán (1933-2009) que inspirou o trabalho. Num segundo momento, descrevo as características do repertório e do gênero executado pelo protagonista do filme no ritual arete guasu para explicitar as razões que guiaram a organização do projeto de edição. Por sua vez, discorre-se sobre o valor da individualidade no âmbito da música de flautas do arete guasu argumentando que o método etnobiográfico é um caminho fecundo para compreender as conexões que sustentam as habilidades para ser um bom instrumentista nesse universo.
