This article is the result of the dissertation work The case of the fiddle and the violin: the armorial music carried out in the PPG of History of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). We seek here to shed light on the philosophical aesthetic thinking of the writer and theatologist Ariano Suassuna, a central figure in the popular artistic manifestation of northeastern culture, which was held while he was a professor of aesthetics at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. We will develop here the perspective of a traditionalist and realistic aesthetic, as defined by the author, and we will demonstrate its intellectual, aesthetic and cultural implications as well as some contradictions arising from Suassuna's reflections.||O presente artigo é fruto do trabalho de dissertação O caso da rabeca e do violino: a música armorial realizado no PPG de História da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE). Buscamos aqui lançar luz sobre o pensamento estético filosófico do escritor e teatrólogo Ariano Suassuna, figura central na manifestação artística popular da cultura nordestina, que foi realizado enquanto este ocupava o cargo de professor de estética na Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco. Desenvolveremos aqui a perspectiva de uma estética tradicionalista e realista, tal como definida pelo autor, e demonstraremos suas implicações intelectuais, estéticas e culturais como também algumas contradições advindas das reflexões de Suassuna.
