In this investigation, we will analyze texts from Portuguese textbooks, in order to find the discourse strategies used whilst selecting and organizing the excerpts one can find in textbooks. Admitting the text/discourse as a configurational unit, we will look into the textual organization of the excerpts so as to understand if the cohesive links that give unit and autonomy to the text are ‘broken’ in the excerpt. Special relevance will be given to the recontextualization and retextualization that allow the reader to grasp the meaning(s) of the excerpt, because we consider the texts/ discourses as semantic-pragmatic units.KEYWORDS: Text. Retextualization.||Nesta investigação, analisaremos textos de manuais de Português, a fim de encontrar as estratégias discursivas utilizadas na seleção e organização dos excertos presentes nos manuais. Entendendo o texto como uma unidade configuracional, interessa-nos a organização textual dos excertos para perceber se os nexos coesivos que conferem unidade e autonomia ao texto são “quebrados” no excerto.
