Contemporany French thought is today one of the main producers of communication theories in the postmodern age. Jean Baudrillard, Paul Virilio, Henry-Pierre Jeudy, Edgar Morin, Michel Maffesoli, Lucien Sfez, Regis Debray, Jacques Derrida, Ignacio Ramonet, Jean-François Lyotard e Pierre Lévy, all of them express an avant-garde thinking about communication which is innovative and astonishing in spite of its ecumenic form, due to its several philo-sophical, epistemological and methodological roots, it exalts the communication as the central phenomenon of the postmodern age.||O pensamento francês contemporâneo é hoje um dos principais produtores de teorias da comunicação na introdução da era pós-moderna. Jean Baudrillard, Paul Virilio, Henry-Pierre Jeudy, Edgar Morin, Michel Maffesoli, Lucien Sfez, Régis Debray, Jacques Derrida, Ignacio Ramonet, JeanFrançois Lyotard e Pierre Lévy expressam um pensamento comunicacional de vanguarda, inovador e surpreendente e que, apesar de ostentar um caráter ecumênico por suas diversas matrizes filosóficas, epistemológicas e metodológicas, entroniza a comunicação como o fenômeno central da era pós-moderna.
