Current times require a lot of reflection in order to confront the challenges that education has in this century. Among optimistic and unoptimistic visions, masters see future with perplexity, while books and movies bring the critic account of their representations in the world. This text, in an essay way, in the classic form to guide some reflections in its readers, want to be a fountain of greater encouragement to men and women that everyday put their lives in the art of be masters. By appealing characteristics of our present and deficiencies that nowadays define what is done in the classrooms, the text looks for a critic accent to the current lines that weave and handle the masters’ calling and want to encourage a bigger discussion about the forms that, institutionally, have been trivialized what they are doing in the classrooms.||Los tiempos actuales requieren mucha mayor reflexión para enfrentar los desafíos que implica abordar la educación en este siglo. Entre visiones esperanzadas y desesperadas, los maestros ven el futuro con cierta perplejidad, mientras libros y películas dan la nota crítica de lo que son sus representaciones en el mundo. Este texto, a modo de ensayo, en las líneas clásicas de guiar una reflexión en sus lectores, se propone ser una fuente de mayores ánimos para los hombres y mujeres que día a día se juegan la vida en el arte de ser maestros. Invocando las características de nuestro presente y las carencias que hoy definen lo que se hace en las aulas, se quiere poner un acento crítico a las rutas actuales por las cuales se tejen y manejan las vocaciones de los maestros y alentar una mayor discusión sobre las formas en las que institucionalmente se ha ido banalizando lo que ellos hacen en las aulas.
