This article is a reflection on the male perception of color in social clothing (suit), for this, is necessary a historical retrospective by the forms and colors used in these clothes, from the XV century to the present. For verify the male reaction regarding colors of their suit, was use to exploratory research, interviewed users of formal attire, which includes pants, coat, shirt and tie. The intention with the development of the research was revealing how these men understand the meanings of social clothes, if recognize the significance of the colors, finally discuss the relationship between men and their clothes.||Este artigo é uma reflexão sobre a percepção masculina da cor nas vestimentas sociais (terno). Realizou-se uma retrospectiva histórica no que diz respeito às formas e cores utilizadas nesses trajes, que passa pelo século XV até a atualidade. Com o intuito de verificar a reação masculina em relação às cores de seus trajes, foi utilizada a pesquisa exploratória, com entrevistados usuários do traje formal, o qual inclui calça, paletó, camisa e gravata. O objetivo final foi revelar como esses homens percebem os significados do traje social e das cores discutindo a sua relação com as suas vestes.
