The paper presents the political strategy of the Portuguese Extreme Right between the years 1976 and 1980. The aim is to understand how and why this political area failed to emphasize its presence through a solid party institutionalized during the years of the transition and consolidation of democracy. O intuito é perceber como e porque esta área política não conseguiu vincar a sua presença através de um partido sólido institucionalizado durante os anos da transição e consolidação da democracia. A análise utiliza, como fonte principal, o semanário A Rua: a voz mais reivindicativa e militante da extrema-direita portuguesa nesse final dos anos 70.
