The article focuses on the hygienic ideal and its relation to tuberculosis, as they have been established in Argentina at the turning of the century. The analysis of five utopic urban sets imagined at the time shows how the hygienist discourse questioned the urban space and gave birth to an utopic perspective as well as to a practical interventionism. Concepts such as progress, order, crowd and welfare were thus mingled to the ideas of degeneration regeneration, reform and utopia.||O artigo focaliza o ideal higienista e suas relações com a tuberculose na forma como foi estabelecida na Argentina no fim do século XIX. A análise de cinco cenários urbanos utópicos imaginados na época mostra como o discurso higienista questionou o espaço urbano e produziu uma perspectiva utópica assim como uma prática intervencionista. Conceitos como progresso, ordem, multidões e bem-estar foram então misturadas com as idéias de degeneração, regeneração, reforma e utopia.
