In The Voyage Out, Virginia Woolf portrays the protagonist by showing her inner thoughts. Strategy that analogically allows the conception of the esthetic work of the author as being close to the Freudian memory supported by life and death drives. The objective of this study is toshow how the psychic states, revealed by the protagonist, are articulated with the work of memory and the search for identity in the novel.||Em The Voyage Out, Virginia Woolf retrata a protagonista expondo pensamentos que revelam seu mundo interior. Estratégia que permite analogicamente a aproximação da concepção estética da escritora com o trabalho da memória freudiana, mediado pela censura com sustentação na pulsão de vida e morte. O objetivo deste estudo é mostrar como os estados psíquicos, revelados pela protagonista, são articulados com o trabalho da memória e com a busca de identidade na obra.
