This article aims to shed light on the first film from the American director Terrence Malick, Badlands (1973). The study of this film is guided by denudation of its filmic structure, the search for understanding of narrative tricks and gimmicks aesthetic which mark the debut of Malick, in order to examine not only the work but understand it within a complex political context, social and cultural, accustomed to the 1970s. The article also extends itself on certain malickian narratives inheritances, his dialogue with the American film of its time and its aesthetic uniqueness.||O presente artigo objetiva lançar luzes sobre o primeiro filme do diretor estadunidense Terrence Malick, Badlands, de 1973. O estudo desta película se orienta pelo desnudamento de sua estrutura fílmica, pela busca da compreensão das artimanhas narrativas e das astúcias estéticas que balizam o debut de Malick, a fim não apenas analisar a obra, mas compreendê-la dentro de um complexo contexto político, social e cultural, afeito aos anos de 1970. Também se estende o artigo sobre determinadas heranças narrativas malickianas, o diálogo com o cinema norte-americano de seu tempo e suas singularidades estéticas.
