Orientador: Edson do Prado Pfutzenreuter||Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Artes||Resumo: A pesquisa trata da criação da coleção de livros de artista e a trajetória percorrida até ganhar seu lugar na biblioteca. A coleção começa com a doação de 127 obras por parte da Profa. Luise Weiss do Instituto de Artes, dando início a uma parceria entre esse instituto e a Biblioteca de Coleções Especiais e Obras Raras, ambos da Unicamp. Acreditando-se que essa prática parte do objeto que tem sido nosso objeto de trabalho e estudo por muito anos, essa pesquisa procura olhar para a trajetória do livro como objeto gráfico e mostra como esse, na mão de artistas, se transforma em linguagem artística. O que se discute sobre o assunto é colocado aqui, e considerado reflexão importante para auxiliar na consolidação do que será a coleção de livros de artistas da Unicamp. O olhar para os desdobramentos das discussões e produção do livro de artista dentro do Instituto de Artes também colabora para criar a identidade dessa coleção. O exemplo de outras coleções, como a pioneira em uma universidade pública, a da UFMG, nos traz segurança ao escolhermos a biblioteca como lugar do livro de artista. Apresentamos nesse estudo algumas das obras que fazem parte desse acervo inicial, mostrando a diversidade dessa prática e o rico resultado, que traz desafios e possibilidades tanto para o mundo das artes quanto para a biblioteconomia. A união desses dois campos ultrapassa as possibilidades de registro e armazenamento, beneficiando futuras gerações de artistas e pesquisadores||Abstract: The research contemplates the creation of the artists¿ books collection and the trajectory covered in order to have its place gained in the library. The collection begins with the donation of 127 artists¿ books by Profa. Luise Weiss from the Instituto de Artes of Unicamp, and starts a thriving partnership between this institute and the Library of Special Collections and Rare Works, both at Unicamp. Believing that this practice starts from what has been our object of work and study for many years, this research seeks to look at the book¿s trajectory as a graphic object and shows how this, in the hands of creative and skilled artists, is turned into artistic language. What is discussed about the subject is presented here, and considered an important reflection to help consolidate what will be the collection of artists¿ books. Looking at the unfolding of the discussions and production of the artists¿ books within the Institute also contributes to creating the identity of this collection. The example of other collections, such as the pioneer in a public university, the UFMG collection, brings us security when choosing the library as the place of the artists¿ books. In this study we present some of the works that are part of this initial collection, showing the diversity of this practice and its rich result, which brings challenges and possibilities for both the art world and the librarianship.
