Esta tese trata das representações do corpo pela ciência e pela arte. Nesse sentido, objetivamos compreender o estatuto que as fotografias adquirem nesse contexto. Defino como o corpus de investigação os retratos de enfermos realizados em meados da década de 1950 pelo artista plástico, fotógrafo e médico búlgaro Konstantin Christoff (1923-2011) em Montes Claros-MG. A ênfase central da pesquisa se pauta nessas imagens e nas possíveis relações, aproximações e/ou distanciamentos com outras representações do corpo enfermo: aquelas consideradas de cunho científico como outras que se orientam pelas práticas artísticas. Desses imbricamentos entre as representações do corpo pela arte e pela ciência e a partir desses registros, produzidos através das percepções do sujeito artista e médico, ambos construtores de sentidos, reflito acerca do corpo-objeto e do corpo-imagem, assumindo que as imagens científicas também podem ser carregadas esteticamente desde a sua produção.||This thesis discusses the representations of the body by science and art. We aim to understand the status that photographs acquire in this context. The corpus of this investigation is defined by photographic portraits of sick people made in the mid-1950s by the Bulgarian artist, photographer and doctor Konstantin Christoff (1923-2011) in Montes Claros-MG. The central emphasis of the research is based on these images and on the possible relationships with other representations of the sick body. Thus, the scientific photographs are compared to those that are guided by artistic practices. From these intersections between representations of the body by art and science, produced through the perceptions of Konstantin Christoff (both an artist and a doctor), this thesis reflects on the object-body and the image-body, arguing that scientific images can also be aesthetically considered.||Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás
